Because Minn. Stat. § 553.02 abolished actions for alienation of affections, a plaintiff can no longer seek tort damages based on the effects of marital discord caused by a third party. In addition, a plaintiff may not proceed under a breach of a fiduciary duty when the complaint alleges only legal damages.
